In the studio for Michael Buble’s album with arranger Dave Pierce…groovy…

I have been extremely fortunate to have a successful career as a professional musician. The 25+ years of domestic and international live performance, touring, studio work, television broadcasts, and business practices give me a great deal of insight as to what the necessary skill-set is to be able to pursue, adapt, and develop a career in the music industry.

Presenting a clinic at the 2015 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival: “The Lead Trumpet Player: Big Band and Beyond”

I have more than 20 years of experience as an educator, clinician, guest artist, and private instructor. I was founding director and designer of the award-winning Jazz & Commercial Music Program, Frederick Fennell Wind Studies Program, and the premier performance ensemble “Montage” at the Orange County School of the Arts. I am active as a clinician and guest artist and have worked with schools such as: Los Angeles County School of the Arts, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Los Angeles, the Berlin Conservatory of Music, and the University of Idaho. I am proud to say that several former students of my programs have been fortunate to attend and graduate from some of the finest universities and conservatories around the world. Many of them are active professional musicians with successful careers in the music industry.

As a private instructor, I maintain a trumpet studio consisting of students ranging in proficiency from high school to graduate and professional level performance.

When I come to your school or festival there are several options that are available to you as to how I can participate:

  • GROUP LESSONS
  • SKYPE LESSONS
  • PRIVATE LESSONS
  • GUEST ARTIST RESIDENCY AND PERFORMANCE
  • SECTIONALS (JAZZ BAND, WIND ENSEMBLE, MARCHING BAND)
  • ENSEMBLE REHEARSAL/CLINICS (JAZZ BAND, WIND ENSEMBLE, COMBOS)
  • MASTER CLASSES (PERFORMANCE, MUSIC BUSINESS & INDUSTRY)
  • CURRICULUM CONSULTATION
  • CONCERT & EVENT PRODUCTION

The bottom line is; I want you and your students to be successful and have fun doing it! There were a lot of things that I wish my past teachers would have shared with me! There are a lot of things that I say in m visits that will be verbatim what you say to your students, but a “different voice” just makes the message stick. I am on your side! I have a passion for sharing any information and resources that I have with as many students that will listen!

I hope to hear from from you, and don’t hesitate to contact me directly: bijonwatson@gmail.com
